Care and proper maintenance of your eyelash extensions is important for longer lasting, beautiful lashes. Do not be alarmed if some of your eyelashes fall out quickly. They most likely were at the end of their growth cycle. The majority of your eyelash extensions will stay through a complete cycle. Follow these tips for best results:
AFTERCARE
During the first 48 hours, refrain from hot steam and excessive heat from the use of hot tubs, jacuzzis, saunas, showers, and tanning beds. After this period of time, keep these to a minimum as they may cause the adhesive bond to weaken. Excessive swimming may cause the bond to weaken as well. More frequent re-lash appointments may be necessary if any of these are a regular part of your lifestyle.
Try to avoid sleeping on your stomach or on your eyelashes.
Do not use regular or waterproof mascara! Most brands of mascara contain chemical properties and oils that will dissolve the adhesive. Removing mascara from your lashes can cause the extensions to fall off prematurely as well. Constant use of mascara will shorten the lifespan of the lashes. I DO NOT recommend mascara, but if you do decide to wear it, it should be water based and used on the tips of the lashes ONLY and when a touch up is drawing near. Applying mascara near the base of your lashes may cause the extensions to fall off. Be very careful when doing this.
Do not apply any type of artificial lashes on top of the lash extensions!
Take special care around the eye area when cleansing your face. Do not scrub or rub your eyes. Use a sponge tipped or lint free applicator to gently remove makeup around the eye area. Do not use cotton balls, cotton swabs, or makeup wipes on or near your lashes, as the fibers may get stuck to the bonded area and pull the lashes off. Avoid any type of cleansers, lotions, and makeup removers that contain oil. This will break down the adhesive and cause the extensions to fall off.
Never use a clamp-style eyelash curler on your extensions. This can permanently damage not only the extensions, but your natural eyelashes as well.
Avoid running water directly on your lashes while in the shower.
Do not touch, pick, or pull your lashes. Your hands have natural oils on them and excessive touching of the lashes may dissolve the adhesive.
Do not attempt to remove the extensions yourself. Have them removed by your lash artist.
Only use the recommended aftercare products on your lashes. These products are made exclusively for lash extensions and have no harmful ingredients that will dissolve the bond. Only "water based" and "oil free" products should be used around the eye area.
Lashes should be kept clean on a daily basis! Wash with our recommended cleanser then rinse well and pat dry with a towel or wash rag. Be careful not to rub or wipe the lashes. A simple "blotting" motion is all you need! You can remove any excess makeup with our makeup remover using lint free applicators making sure to brush away from lash line. Rinse again if needed, pat dry with a towel or wash cloth, then blow dry on low cool setting. Brush through with a clean mascara wand (tips only) and apply a sealer to seal out any dirt, oil, moisture, and humidity that may affect the lashes.
Eye creams, face serums, and face lotions should be applied sparingly and no closer than the orbital bone
Be sure to schedule your re-lash appointment every 2-3 weeks for timely touch ups. This will keep your eyelashes looking full and beautiful, indefinitely!
